Cold weather has officially arrived! Your furnace will begin working extremely hard to keep you and your family comfortable and safe this winter. One piece of advice that unfortunately many people don’t heed is this. As soon as you spot a potential issue with your system, schedule a service call. Many people tend to wait until the problem completely disables their furnace before they give us a call. Quite often that is in the middle of the night or during our peak service times when the wait times can be rather long.
The moment your system starts making that strange noise, that weird light starts flashing, or you smell something that doesn’t seem normal, call us! We should be able to get there quickly and possibly even save you some stress and money on a less expensive repair.
The best way to tell if your furnace is a high-efficiency model or not is to take a look at the vent. If it is a metal vent, chances are it is NOT high efficiency. High-efficiency furnaces exhaust with minimal heat that they actually vent with PVC plastic pipe. All of the heat that used to exit your home via that old metal pipe now gets to stay in the house and keep you and your family warm and cozy. We actually are running a great furnace special right now as a matter of fact. You can have a new, state of the art, high-efficiency furnace completely installed for as low as $29.99 per month. The new furnace may save you more than that on your monthly gas bill. Call us or visit http://ghacwv.com/quote-request for a free in-home visit from one of our comfort consultants.
If you don’t have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, GET THEM! This is not something that can be put off along with cleaning out that junk drawer. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors save numerous lives every year. Keep in mind:
- Detectors have a life span. (usually five to seven years)
- The batteries need to be changed twice per year
- Should be on every level of the home & near where you sleep
- Never ignore it if it goes off
- Test detectors weekly
- Clean dust and debris off your detectors regularly
We offer a full line of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and monitors. If you would like price and installation information give us a call.
