It costs on average between $3,700 - $7,400 to replace a central air conditioning unit in the Morgantown, WV area. Some factors that will influence the final price of your unit include:
- Size of house.
- Quality of unit.
- Complexity of any ductwork that needs to be installed.
Average Cost: $5,750
Typical Range: $3,700 - $7,400
There could be a few reasons your air conditioner is running but not cooling your house. You can troubleshoot the problem first before calling in the professionals by following a few steps:
- Thermostat should be set to AUTO - Many don’t realize that if you are trying to cool your home, the ON setting could be doing more harm than good. When ON, the blower will run continuously even when the unit is not producing cool air. Setting the system to AUTO allows the unit to cycle the way it was built to and recharge.
- Clogged air filter - A dirty air filter could be clogging the system. When airflow is blocked, it could cause the system to struggle to circulate and properly cool the home.
- Debris on outdoor unit - The outdoor unit works to expel warm air from the house. If the outdoor unit is covered in dirt and debris, the warm air cannot get out and will circulate back inside. Make sure to clean dirt and debris off gently so as to not damage the unit.
- Circuit breaker has tripped -If your AC’s outside breaker has tripped, the unit will continue to blow air into the house without cooling it first. If the breaker keeps tripping after you reset it, a professional will need to be called.
After checking these items, if you are still having trouble with your AC cooling the house, contact Grogg’s Home Services. We offer repair services on all makes and models of air conditioning units, as well as 24/7 emergency service. Contact us online to schedule an appointment!
Investing in a geothermal heat pump could definitely be worth it in the long run. There are a number of factors to consider however:
- High upfront costs, low monthly energy bills - Geothermal heat pumps are about twice as expensive to install upfront than a traditional heat pump. Costs typically range between $7,000 - $30,000 with most homeowners paying around $15,000 for new installation. However, because this type of energy is so efficient, many report having recouped the initial costs within a few years from savings on their power bills.
- Requires excavation and extensive digging - Not all homes are well-suited for geothermal heat pumps unfortunately, but the technology, and therefore availability, continues to improve as their popularity increases.
- Environmentally friendly energy - Geothermal heat pumps use the steady temperature in the earth to either heat or cool your home. There is no combustion or pollution as a result of its use.
To have a traditional tank water heater installed in the Morgantown, WV area, homeowners can anticipate paying between $700 - $1,300, including labor and materials. The final price will depend on the size and quality of the water heater.
Grogg’s plumbing services can help install your new water heater. Contact us online to schedule an appointment today!

Our experience is beyond EXCELLENT!! Don came to our home quickly after making the request and provided excellent consultation. He communicated with me by text messaging in a very timely manner..especially under the circumstances we live in today. And then the experience got even better!! Epson Espinosa and Caleb Ross arrived to install the equipment. While I was not present during the entire time these two professionals were at our house, it was obvious they had done an excellent job. My observation was they were a TEAM!! Both of these men were excellent at communicating with the customer. Personable, caring, knowledgeable, and very professional. My entire work life has been managing and delivering High Quality Customer Service in the Information Technology Industry. Don, Epson, and Caleb are three people I would want on my team. Grogg's Home Service is fortunate to have these three individuals as employees. I can assure you they have secured your company as one of our "highly recommended" service providers. Thank you for a Great Experince!!
Service on a New System
Bob - Morgantown, WV
Had a new heat pump system installed by Grogg's late summer, and it didn't operate properly when cold weather came. John found a refrigerant leak and was able to fix that. He also rewired the thermostat so now the heat pump and the auxiliary heat both seem to work now. I can't comment on price, but I'm hoping there won't be a charge for this service because this is a new system.
Prompt and quality service

Very satisfied with Greg the technician but very dissatisfied with the A.C. Unit/system sold to us
Simons - Morgantown, WV
We have had one inspection and three service calls and the A.C. Is still not working! This is unacceptable since this unit has only been used six months. This unit is used for cooling only! We purchased this new system a year ago to avoid the exact situation we find ourselves in. 90 degree weather and no Air Conditioning!
The service we received was all TOP notch!!
Brian - Morgantown, WV
On Monday I came home to a warm house, after working outside in nearly 90 degree temperatures. During my checking my AC unit out I felt I would rather have a professional check my system out to conform what I found. Doing some old school investigating through a phone book I have Grogg's home services a call. Gregory came out on Wednesday confirming what I had found that my AC unit was shot. The following day Donald came out and we discussed what I wanted and what would work with my heating system. He scheduled everything on the spot. Friday morning Brian and helper arrived. Installing my new unit. Explaining everything there was to know about my new unit. The new unit immediately started cooling the house down. I hope this unit provides me with many years of service. With this all being said. THANK YOU to the whole Grogg's team!!!!
Response from Grogg's Home Services:
Thank you Brian for the amazing review.
Problem has still not been resolved entirely
Simons - Morgantown, WV
Our one season old AC still does not, in our opinion, operate efficiently. The volume of air supplied from the unit we feel is unsatisfactory. Our technician was great however and ensured us that our issues would be addressed.
Response from Grogg's Home Services:
I am sorry for the inconvenience. I hope that we were able to provide 5 star service on our second time out.
Thom - Morgantown, WV
Grogg's technicians James and Anthony expertly installed our new A/C unit and gas furnace. They answered all my questions...They worked methodical and finished when they said they would. Then removed all the debris...Great Job, Guys.

Heat exchange tubes show fair amount of rusting and additional oxygen in flame, but is currently passing combustion analysis.
